It offers a glimpse into a meaningful moment in a Girl’s journey at Gladiolus Place — as she prepares to return home and reflects on the memories that shaped her healing, growth, and self-discovery. Through this story, we highlight our core mission: Every Girl Loved, Every Life Transformed.

Home, Finally

At Gladiolus Place, Marilyn is ready to be discharged. Together with the Home’s Director, she eagerly awaits her mother’s arrival. In the final moments before her departure, she asks for one last bike ride with the Director in the Home’s courtyard where she reminisced the meaningful moments they had shared together at Gladiolus Place. Memories flood back to her – shared meals that nourished both body and soul, playful interactions with the Home’s therapy cats that brought joy and solace, heartwarming conversations shared on the swing that helped her better understand her emotions.

It is bittersweet goodbyes like these that Gladiolus Place works towards, as we forge lasting memories that will linger long after we send every Girl back to a safer, brighter and transformed future.

How To Participate?

Click the ”Join Now” button, walk/run/cycle for a

cause, raise funds, and rally your team!

1. Register for the event

Connect your account to your STRAVA before event starts.

2. Share your profile
Share your profile to your friends & family and tell them why you want to raise funds. Raise at least SGD 100 to qualify for the leaderboard.
3. Event starts
Once you have raised a minimum of SGD 100, you’ll qualify for the leaderboard. Be active and partake in the event using the STRAVA App!
4. Track progress
Track rankings, activities, and achievements on the Event Leaderboard.

Gladiolus Place is a non-profit residential Children’s Home for vulnerable teenage Girls aged 11 – 21 years old who have experienced abuse, neglect and trauma.


With our vision to have Every Girl Loved and Every Life Transformed, our mission is to bring about Healing, Renewal, and Restoration to families and communities.


A charity with IPC (Institution of a Public Character) status, Gladiolus Place is licensed by the Ministry of Social and Family Development in the administration and upholding of high standards in our care of our Girls. Founded in 1998 as Andrew & Grace Home and renamed Gladiolus Place in 2018, we continue our founders’ mission of providing love and care for vulnerable teenage Girls.


Today, we support 40 Girls from diverse backgrounds, empowering them to overcome challenges and pursue equal opportunities in life.

The Countless Opportunities

I enjoyed cycling outdoors with both my friends and the Staff. To me, CycleHome means having the opportunity to strengthen bonds and build camaraderie among the Girls and Staff.

 

I am truly grateful to all the CycleHome participants and supporters for giving their time and energy, whether it was cycling alongside us or supporting us in any way they could.

 

Through cycling, I learned that you do not always have to plan every route. Sometimes, you just have to go with the flow and see where it leads you. Even without realising it, life offers countless opportunities to explore the world around us, a world that some may feel too lazy or even too afraid to discover.

Slowing Down for a While…

I enjoyed cycling with the other residents and the Sisters, as it gave us the chance to truly get to know one another. To me, CycleHome means being able to bond as a group, looking out for each other like family. Whether it was an injury or a loose bike chain, we supported one another. Whenever a problem arose, we worked together to fix it so we could keep moving forward.

On the way home, we rode past beautiful, colourful flowers and stopped to take photos, even capturing the sunset together. After taking in the view, we continued the journey as one team.

Cycling taught me patience and the importance of never leaving anyone behind. No matter how many times we fell or felt like giving up, we got back on our feet and continued, making sure we all reached home safely, together as one.

I am especially grateful to Sis Shannon for being by my side. She listened and spoke with me about my struggles while cycling, and I will always be thankful to have someone who truly cares. To the CycleHome participants and supporters, I would also like to say, “Thank you for cheering and supporting us all the way until the end”.

My most memorable moment from CycleHome 2025 was the chance to enjoy the cycling journey while exploring the world around me.

To me, CycleHome represents resilience. No matter how many times you fall off your bike, you find the strength to get back up and keep going, because life does not stop there. 

I learned that cycling makes me feel more calm and relaxed, making me to feel more at ease both physically and mentally.

I am also grateful to the Staff and my friends for their consistent support and helping me while cycling.
